Sometimes All You Need To Start is a Sketch
Goose and Ghost started with the same thing as every single fabric and print we produce does: a sketch.
Hi, friends! I’m Ashley, the artist behind Goose and Ghost. In the Summer of 2023 I was at a bit of an impasse. I had gotten my degree in digital art & animation a year beforehand, was struggling to find any relevant work in a post-COVID hiring world, and my fiancé at the time & I had just recently gone through a traumatic event that landed us back living with my parents. Emotionally? Bit of a wreck. But I desperately didn’t want to give up on creating art as a career. So I kept drawing and I figured that at some point something would stick.
And stick it did. One day that Summer I ended up learning how to create repeating designs. One of the first things I created in this style was a doodle of a few different knitting items including needles, yarn, stitch markers, sweaters, and more. I posted it up on my knitting-dedicated Instagram account that had very few followers and it quickly became my most engaged with post on there. SO many people were so encouraging and excited about with request after request for project bags made out of the fabric design. The next day I posted a crochet version with much the same reaction. So I took my fledgling skills with a sewing machine, the two fabric designs, and Goose and Ghost was born. I haven’t looked back since.
My skills with both a sewing machine and in textile design have GREATLY improved since (dare I call myself a professional?) and I now have the honor of telling people I have the most fun at work every day sketching silly little drawings, listening to audiobooks, seam ripping ou- I mean sewing, definitely sewing all those special fabrics that I get to create.
When I’m not working on Goose and Ghost products you can find me with a book in my hand (most likely romantasy or paranormal romance!), working up a knitting project, or binge-watching Expedition Unknown. I love the color green, watching hockey, equal rights for all, and trying new restaurants and food!

Do you really draw all your fabrics?
Yup!
When we first started we did outsource our lining fabrics and a few of those bags are still left in our inventory (we don’t waste around here!). These bags will have a note in their description identifying them as commercially sourced. As of July 2025 all bags feature fabric that is 100% designed in house!
Where does the name Goose and Ghost come from?
When I was in animation school we did a student film or video game every year of the program that took up the whole year. Completely on accident all of my projects featured a goose or a ghost as the main characters. It’s a little nod to where I got my professional start!
Why is there a $1 discount in my order?
Shipping profiles are limited in SquareSpace and I had to create multiple profiles to accommodate stickers and all other items. It’s an automatic adjustment when you order stickers with any other item so you don’t get charged twice for shipping!
